“God never made an ugly landscape. All that the sun shines on is beautiful, so long as it is wild.” -John Muir

John Muir (1838-1914) was one of America’s most passionate and dedicated environmentalists. As a young boy, Muir emigrated to Wisconsin from Scotland and later  studied both botany and geology at the state’s University. Muir went on to become an advocate and spokesman of the national park idea, as well as a published writer. His work to help the environment was an inspiration, and continues to influence environmentalists today.
