“God never made an ugly landscape. All that the sun shines on is beautiful, so long as it is wild.” -John Muir

John Muir (1838-1914) was one of America’s most passionate and dedicated environmentalists. As a young boy, Muir emigrated to Wisconsin from Scotland and later ┬ástudied both botany and geology at the state’s University. Muir went on to become an advocate and spokesman of the national park idea, as well as a published writer. His work to help the environment was an inspiration, and continues to influence environmentalists today.
